Took 2 days off in a row this week, as this week is a fallback week. Every 3 will either lower my milege or take an extra day off. I think I'll just stick to running less as I was lathargic and woke up late. The cigarettes I had last night did not help.

It's stupid hot outside in Phoenix. There is a HUGE difference running when the sun comes out

Last night was my aniversary and I pigged out on stuff that I did not need. But I had a lot of energy to burn.

HR is going down and is a good indication of how far I've come to be in shape. First week, my HR was almost 160.

I thought I was going to have a rough time this morning seeing that I ran just 12 hours earlier. But even though I was a little stiff, had a good time and ran very well. The temp makes a huge difference as it was 80 degrees and much better for running. Did not stop at all and am beginning to miss my HR monitor.

I am eating much better and have begun to show signs of losing weight.

Note to self: Do not run when the tempeture is 110 degrees outside and you had pizza for lunch. No energy, hot, uncomfortable, and tired after work. according to these stats, I really struggled. I can't imagine what my HR was as I got dizzy, tired, and just wanted to go home.

Left my heart monitor in Prescott, so I won't have stats for awhile in that category. As you can see, my stats jumped quite a bit from week 1 as I feel more comfortable and my lungs are opening up. I forsee getting the pace down below 8:30 within 6 weeks.

Week 1 of 18 Day 5 (Long run Day)

June 17th, 2006

7:15 am

Distance: 6 Miles
Weekly Distance: 18 Miles
Training Distance: 18 Miles
Time: 1:15 Minitues
Pace: 12:30 per mile
Average Speed: 5.2 Mph
Average HR: 141
Max HR: 172
Resting HR: ?
Weight: ?

Woke up early this morning for father's day in Prescott, Arizona. A very tough run seeing that the only thing I had for dinner was a hot dog. No carbs, or anything to keep me going. Also had to stop a few times to clear my throat and had a bathroom emergency that sidelined me for 15 minitues. I ran a few hills and had to on a constant incline, and that not only wore me down, but was very hard on me.

In Phoenix, I always run flat straight trails, but the hills really killed me. Not to mention that I had to stop in the middle for a pitstop.

Week 1 of 18 Day 4

June 16th, 2007

7:15 AM

Distance: 3 miles
Weekly Distance: 12 Miles
Training Distance: 12 Miles
Time: 32:03
Pace: 10:41
Average Speed: 5.6 Mph
Average HR: 148
HR Max: 172
Resting HR: 77
Weight: 155 Pounds

Had to take a break in the middle of the run as the temp rose to about 100 degrees, I got dizzy and stopped for about a quarter mile. I have to run earlier in order to take advantage of the lower temp, either that or keep running in the heat to condition myself. It is a lot tougher to run in the heat with at 20 degree difference.

Running in over 100 degree sucks, that's the only way to put it.

Numbers still not bad for stopping for a walk break. Tommorow is my long run of 6 miles, of which I'll do in Prescott where it is a little cooler.

Week 1 of 18 Day 3

June 14th, 2007

5:20 am

Distance: 3 Miles
Weekly Distance: 9 miles
Training Distance: 9 Miles
Time: 30:57
Pace: 10:19
Average Speed: 5.6 Mph
Average HR: 157
HR Max: 167
Resting HR: 69 ? (I don't know why it dropped so low, I was very sleepy this morning)
Weight : 153 Pounds

Started off slow to avoid a spike in HR, and it slowly climbed a little higher as I was pushing myself today knowing I have a day of rest tommorow.

Beginning to spit up lots of phlemn from smoking. Last smoke I was more than 24 hours ago, my lungs are cleaning themselves out and getting ready for expansion. I had the same problem before.

Numbers a little better, we'll see how saturday goes.

Week 1 of 18 Day 2

June 13th, 2007

5:15 am

Pace:10:26
Average Speed: 5.6 Mph
Average HR: 154
HR Max: 174 ( Ouch)
Resting HR : 81
Weight: 154 Pounds

HR Spiked to 174 on the outset, but swiftly returned to 144, no dizzyness and no breaks.
A little stiff from yesterday, but as we can see from the stats a very good upward move in numbers.

Week 1 of 18 Day 1

Distance: 3 Miles
Time: 33 Min
Pace: 11 Min per mile

Felt a little dizzy as my HR went up to 171, took a small break-drank some water-felt much better.

I took it easy as I am breaking in mode

Long Beach Marathon here I come !

This blog is to track all major statistics for my 2nd full marathon. If you are looking for good stories or an interesting spin, then you might not be satisfied. This is pure statistics and if there is a anything the audience may feel that I am missing that could help in my training, I would very much appreciate it.

Here is my current profile

34 Years old (will be 35 when Long Beach comes around)
5"6 inches
155 pounds
2 Years running
Marathons completed
2006 Arizona Rock and Roll Half Marathon in 2 hours 29 Min and 42 sec Pace of 10:26 sec
2007 Arizona Rock and Roll Full Marathon in 4 hours 48 min and 17 sec Pace of 11:00 min

I am on my 1st day of no smoking. I am a lite smoker (2-4 cigs per day, but is going to stop)
and need to will myself to quit. I also am coming from a period of non-running as I took a couple of months off, so needless to say I'll be hurting the next couple of weeks.

I'll be starting an 18 week training session with the following goals:

  • Marathon Completion time of 4:10 or less

  • Pace of 9 min 33 Seconds

  • Weight to 140 pounds

  • No injuries

Those of you reading this, encouragement helps and let me read your stories
